Break through in clothes!

This morning Lawson and I had a break through (I hope). She said "mommy I want to look cute today at school and I have no clothes, can you pick something out for me?" Not sure if anyone knows this but we have clothes issues in this house. I have given up most days and she wears what she wants. I have some control because I know what is in her drawers :)

I picked out her outfit, she not only agreed to it she asked me to braid her hair!!! Huge, my friends. HUGE!!

She said walking out the door. "Mom, take a picture of me I am ready to rock this day!!!" What a great way to start the day. Plus, she looks so cute!!!!

Lawson and Wesley Talk

This morning I overheard the most mature conversation I have ever heard from a new five year old and 7.5 year old. It was one of those moments they didn't know I could hear and I was torn to tell them what I heard.

Let me set the stage. Wesley and Lawson must of made some agreement the night before to have Lawson "start" a BRAND new Lego set that evening. I knew it and told Lawson "do not build any more on it or Wes will be mad!!!" Needless to say the whole darn thing was assembled the next morning.

Lawson came out of her room bragging "look Wes, look at what I made for you" as if it was a favor!!!

I decided to walk away at that moment because I knew she had to take the wrath of Wes.

W- Lawson I didn't tell you to build the whole thing!!!
L- yes you did!!
W- NO I didn't!!!
L- YES YOU DID. (The voices had reached a very high pitch at this point)

**silence, I think he was checking it out, i couldn't see them**
W- how would you feel if I took one of your new toys and played with it before you got a chance to play with it?
L- I wouldn't like it, I am sorry. Do you want me to take it apart for you so you can put it back together?
W- yes.
L- I am sorry. I am now inviting you to my birthday party.

These kiddos make me so proud. No, I never said anything to them about their conversation I simply left it alone. They dealt with a confrontation on their own, and I didn't need to interfere. Not even with a good job. Somethings just need to be left alone!!!

Happy 5th Birthday Wesley

Happy Birthday to my big boy,Wesley!

Wesley is so excited to be five. When we asked him if he felt different Wesley said "yes, I feel bigger."

His birthday morning we started with apple cinnamon muffins, with 5 candles.

Then for lunch I brought him and his friends Krispy Kreme donuts at preschool. I got to see Wesley as the line leader. Very important job!,

His friends singing to him.

Being bashful!

Cailyn dancing to the music.

Enjoying the donuts!!

Then that evening we opened up gifts. His favorite gifts was all the $5 bills. He informed us he is buying a $10 TV. hmmmm...okay.

The weekend before his birthday we took Wesley to pick out his brand new big boy bike.

Then we went to Firehouse Subs for lunch!

Wesley is having a wonderful birthday week. This weekend he will celebrate with a few of his friends at the bowling ally. Fun,fun

Besides it being Wesley's birthday week it is also the first week of kindergarten registration. I took Wesley on Friday to the school to register. I am going to put it on the record that registering the second child is much harder then the 1st. It makes it a little easier because he is so excited.

Here is my big boy all registered for kindergarten!! Looking at this picture I realize he is nota toddler anymore.

This was a big and exciting week for Wesley! I am so proud of my Wesley! He is truly the sweetest child. I will end this post with 5 things about Wesley at age 5

1. Wesley is fiercely competitive (almost to a fault). This drive to win will hopefully be something we can use to help him in school and sports.

2. Wesley is very in tune with God. Examples: if Someone is hurt or sick he will go to another room and pray. He will tell me "mommy I know you love me but God loves me more and that is a good" We are really going to miss the Christian school environment next year.

3. Wesley wears a size 5 clothes and 12W shoes! Not sure how much he weighs but I would guess 44lbs.

4. Wesley loves Legos, star wars on the Wii, riding his new bike (with a helmet), and playing games!

5. As picky as Wesley is eating he does have a wonderful appreciation for seafood. He just discovered he likes oysters. Steamed oysters to be exact!!!

And one to grow on....Wesley is the most loving tender hearted child and I am so blessed that God chose Collins and I to be his parents!!!

Morning Hugs

These two have a very special bond and it has been this way since birth. Every morning Wesley gets Cailyn from her bed (thanks to a door on her crib) they greet each other with hugs and kisses every morning. This morning I captured them hugging.

Don't get me wrong Lawson and Cailyn have a special bond but it isn't quite the same, yet.

We love morning hugs!!

My Mini Me

I just got some pictures in the mail today (I think they belonged to Grandmommy) and one picture really stood out.
Do you know who this is?  It is me when I was 23 months old. Same age as Cailyn

I have never seen it before now, but now I understand why people say "Cailyn looks just like you!"

People have also said I look a lot like my mom and I have a feeling Cailyn is going to get the same thing growing up.  However, I doubt anyone will EVER mistake me as Cailyn's sister as they do with my mom and I.

If Cailyn and I look half as pretty as mom (Nana) then I would say we are pretty lucky.

Gotta love those genes!!

2 Christmas Trees in 1 Year

Yes, you read that correctly.  2 Christmas Trees in 1 year.  I love decorating our tree (lights I can live without) but decorating and pulling out the old ornaments, I love.  However, when you do it twice in one year. It is not as much fun.

Saturday after Thanksgiving we went and picked out our annual tree. It is yearly tradition and one I cherish.

Finding the right tree can be a tough job.

Then on Sunday we started putting on the lights. I unfortunately hurt my neck so I was useless in helping but my men were up for the job.

DSC_6450DSC_6455

It wasn’t until the next weekend and several chiropractic appointments that I put on the decorations. As I was adding the decorations I noticed the tree was VERY fragile but I thought it was in my head.

Then after another week our tree was looking SAD.  Needles falling EVERYWHERE, the silverside of the branches were facing up. It was just bad.

Collins took off all the ornaments (only the half I put up) and returned it to the place we bought the tree.  (thank goodness they exchanged it for free)

The ornaments and the pile of needles it left behind.

Our new tree!!  Looks much perkier!

Then we had a fiasco with the lights.  Mini lights are HARD to come by.  Buy them now while they are still around.

It might of taken twice but it was well worth it!!! Our beautiful tree with all the presents on Christmas morning.DSC_6606

Was it really Thanksgiving?

Our Thanksgiving took a very untraditional turn this year thanks to the unwelcomed guest of the stomach bug.

It all started the Friday before Thanksgiving while I was out camping with my GS troop. This is me looking all “campy!!”

  DSC_6352

I started throwing up around 1AM in the morning! Fun times. Got home Saturday morning and was sick all day.  Was much better by Sunday evening. Then Wesley got REALLY sick on Monday.  It was just plain BAD.  He was sick Monday, Tuesday and part of Wednesday.  Then Collins got sick on Wednesday.  We had to call our family and tell them “Please make other plans, we are too sick for guests.”  Wednesday night Lawson got sick.  Joy, joy. The amount of laundry I did in 5 days was INSANE!!

Thursday, Wesley was 90%, Lawson was 60% but no one was in the mood to eat.  So we played outside while Collins blew leaves. He was about 80% Thursday will no appetite, but the leaves were driving him nuts so he was outside blowing for about 4 hours. He went to work and picked up his leaf vac and we cleaned the yard.

The leaves this year are SO BAD!!  Our yard alone filled up an entire leaf vac and we (collins) just cleaned up 2 weeks before that. Geez.

By Friday we were all doing better so we had our first Thanksgiving feast by ourselves and with no help in the kitchen.  Surprisingly we did really well working together!!!

DSC_6410

Homemade giblet gravy, homemade BB’s rolls, collards for our garden were some of the specialties of the night!DSC_6411DSC_6418DSC_6413

Here we all at the family table.DSC_6420DSC_6426DSC_6427DSC_6429

Our family giving thanks to the Lord.  (yes, I had the timer camera on, and yes, you can see who has their eyes open!!!)

DSC_6421

We have so much to be thankful for and really Thanksgiving is just a day, it really doesn’t matter when you celebrate it!! I love this sign. 2012-11-21 19.04.38

Cailyn is 22 months

Lordy, lordy Mrs. Glory where has the time gone??

Out baby girl is not quite a baby anymore and showing that us that she is a BIG GIRL!

Here are some pictures of Cailyn the past few months.

Talking: She loves to jibber jab all the time here are a few words we have mastered.  Maw (me), Daddy, Wes, La-La (Lawson), go, bow, diaper, Nana, Gra (for Grammy), poo-poo, Gigi (her blanket), Dah, doggie, cookie (of course), chic-chic (chickens), girl and more I just can’t remember them all.

She can push toys forward now.  So stinking cute!!! She loves wearing hats/helmets.

DSC_5936

Following her sister’s footsteps. We have another little girl addicted to HIGH HEEL Shoes!!

I love shoes

Cailyn might have been slightly delayed in pulling up and walking but she is showing us NO delay in her interest in being potty trained.  This might be TMI- but she did her first BM on the toilet Oct 31st (21mo)and has continued to tell us when she needs to go #2 and go on the potty (if I feel like it).  I will admit, I am not in as much “rush” as I was with the other kids to potty train so I will just hold off until she is at least 2.

(Kenna Family- who does this remind you of?)

Of course, growing up there are a few growing pains.  We have now experienced timeout.  As you can tell, she is not a fan, however, she surprisingly did really well staying put and curving her temper tantrums after isolation. This little social butterfly does not like to be left out of anything!

DSC_6482

We have had our fair share of oopsies!  When she found a pen and decided to color my couch AND her brother!!! Yet, he didn’t realize it was his job to tell her no!  Lovely. I did get the pen marks out for the most part thanks to rubbing alcohol.

Messes by cailyn

But seriously who could be mad at this face for long?

Our sweet Cailyn is growing by leaps and bounds everyday and teaching me a things or 20 along the way!!! Love you baby girl!!
