A Special Day Visit from Family

Last Friday, my grandmother, Mama II, and my Aunt Aprille, some call her “Aunt Perfect,” came to my house for a 4 hour visit.  I was beyond thrilled to see my family especially when you know how much effort went into them getting here.  Aprille lives in GA and Mama II lives in SC.  Aprille traveled to SC Thursday evening.  Then they left the house at 6AM on Friday to get to our home by 10AM.  Then they left our house around 2PM for another 4 hours drive. Aprille then returned to GA Sunday. What a whirlwind of a trip but from our end it was AWESOME.

Aprille had only met Lawson when she was 18 months old. So many years have past and our family has grown by 2 since then!!  It was wonderful for part of my extended family to finally meet my family!

It was a special treat for us because Mama II got to see Lawson perform in the 1st grads presentation of the Wax Museum, Lawson was Juliette Gordon Low (Girl Scouts Founder).

**I want you to know I did not doctor this picture AT ALL!! Doesn’t my grandma look AWESOME???

While we went up to the school, I left Wesley and Cailyn (sleeping) with Aprille.  Wesley was at first very shy with Aprille but that wore off quickly.  When Aprille left for home Wesley said “why does she have to go?  I want her to stay and play!!” Yep, Aunt Aprille is still as fun as I remember!!DSC_4459

Aprille was so overjoyed to see the kiddos she played with all 3 outside and Mama II and I were able to have a nice quiet lunch together.  We enjoyed ham, potato salad, and macaroni and cheese (Mama II brought the meal too)  Geez, do I sound worthless or what?  She drives all this way and brings food!! Here is one more picture of the kiddos with their Great Aunt Aprille!  I would have to agree she is great!!DSC_4469

Thank you Aprille and Mama II for coming up all this way to see me and the kids.  It meant the world to me!!  We love you !

Wesley’s First Game- Cancelled

I am up and ready to watch my Wesley play in his first soccer game but Mother Nature had other ideas and his first game is cancelled. Since I will not have pictures of him playing (running around the field in a cluster of kids chasing a ball) I thought I would post some pictures I took of Wesley before his first soccer practice.

I was trying to get a picture of him standing with the ball.  No dice.  This child is too busy.  Like most other pictures these will be action pictures.

Wesley's 1st Season of Soccer

We got a soccer net to practice at home and here he is when he made a goal! Happy boy!

Wesley SCORE

We will be ready for his next game and his best cheerleaders will be there to cheer him on!!!

Tractor Time

Not everyone has a full size tractor for 3/4 acre of land…but my neighbor does.  As much as I hate all the crap stuff he has piled everywhere, our neighbor Bob is truly the nicest man.  He really cares for our family and loves to get the kids involved with his projects.

As soon as Lawson got off the school bus it was work time.

Just as if we lived on a farm…but we don’t!

Then to reward them for their hard work they got to ride the tractor.

The kids were able to maneuver the bucket and they were thrilled.

What did Cailyn do the whole time?  She looked like a little princess, of course!!

Hello, Spring 2012

Oh boy have we all been enjoying this gorgeous weather here in NC.  This is the perfect time of year not to hot, not too cold and no bugs!!  This won’t last long so we are enjoying every moment.

Welcome Spring 2012This picture is probably one of my favorites right now!! My three kids all enjoying the outdoors.  Fun, fun!!

Cailyn is much like her brother and sister.  She LOVES to be outside. She doesn’t really have a preference, she is happy in her wagon, her car, the swing, this child is ALL SMILES!!

Playtime

We are still here.  We have just been extremely busy, bogged down with stuff and the stuff I have to write about is so cumbersome that I just don’t want to write.  Therefore, I will share a few pictures of the kids all playing so nicely together. This was the day Cailyn’s fever finally broke and was starting to act like her old self.

I love these kids so much!! They are so silly!!

I will report we did go back to the doctor’s for a follow-up and she is doing great.  No more ear infections.  Yippee!!

What a month- February 2012

There is two words to describe February “Doctor’s Appointments”  In the month of February we have anywhere from 1-3 doctors appointments a WEEK!  It has been borderline ridiculous. We are very blessed to have healthy kids but sometimes when it rains it pours. So February it just poured Doctor’s Appointments for us! Five of them were either well check-ups (W&C), head check-up, heart check-up, and ENT (I will get to that one later).  The others have been Cailyn’s ear infection.  When the front lady at the doctor’s office knows your name it is not cool!!

If you recall we had lots of doctor’s visits from Wesley’s head concussion.  Then we had his well check-up and he failed his hearing test in his right ear.  Went to the ENT last Monday the boy has PERFECT hearing.  Great news.

While we were there I asked the doctor to look at Cailyn’s ear because she was pulling on it.  He pulled out a bunch of wax but  he said it was not infected just red.  Fast forward 2 days Cailyn was sick with a 101 fever and I took her to the doctor’s.  Sure enough right ear had an infection..  Go home with Amoxicillin and was confident she would be better by Friday.  Friday I was suppose to fly out of town to meet up with Collins for a work function.  Friday morning Cailyn wakes up and it is clear she is very sick still. I took her back to the doctor’s office (but still had my bags packed for my trip)   Look at my baby at the doctor’s office.

They told me she now had a double ear infection and was a very sick little girl and really without them saying much more I decided to cancel my trip. There was no way I could leave my sick little girl.  I wouldn’t be able to live with myself!!  We were put on a new antibiotic called Sulprax and thought surely my baby would be great by Saturday.  NOPE.  She ran a 101-103 fever up until Monday.  I don’t think there is any worse feeling then knowing you can not do anything more for your kids (like take their place). By Monday night I was happy to see Cailyn making dramatic improvements!!DSC_4215

Remember me wishing I could take her place….well, it happened.  I am sick now!  I probably should go to the doctors but I would like ONE week off.  Next week we start off again with dentist appointments, ear check-up, Early Prevention (will talk about that more later) so maybe if I am still sick next week I will go.

Other then the sick bug going through our house we are all good.

I do have to share one sweet thing about Lawson.  I was feeling horrible on Monday and Lawson was amazing that morning she fixed breakfast for her and Wesley, got them both dressed, and then removed the sheets off her bed (Monday is sheet day).  When I told her thank you she said “I know you don’t feel good, is there anything else I can do to help?” I am such a lucky mom!
