One last trip to the beach this summer

DSC_1038

The kids absolutely LOVE the beach. I should rephrase that…we never actually go to the beach and touch sand.  They love going to the condo where there is water!!  We decided the week Lawson had early release to take them to see Grammy and Pops at the water.  The kids do AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE in really less then 48 hours.

Cailyn taking it all in too…

Fishing off the dock…see the pelican watching over the water?DSC_1047

Lawson’s fish.  The girl has the touch.DSC_1051

Then there was also a speed boat competition going on at the beach.  DSC_1064

Racing in circles. DSC_1067

This gives you an idea of how BIG these things are (they are LOUD too)DSC_1068

Then there was time to relax for those who work extra hard and don’t spend as much time with the kids as they would like!!!DSC_1101

Not pictured is crabbing with Pops first thing in the morning and letting Mommy and Daddy sleep in!

This was a week before Irene hit.  I wonder what the beach looks like now?

Quiet before the Storm

If you have been watching the news you know that Irene is heading towards the NC Coast.  We are not expecting much here except rain and wind (thank goodness.)  Although my in-laws (who live at the beach) will probably get it a little bit worse.  Praying for their safety.

This week we have FINALLY gotten some relief from the intense heat and we all are enjoying the beautiful weather.  (I will be the first one to admit I am a fair weather type gal!)  It was so pretty I could not resist taking pictures of this cute bunch of kids!

Wesley is such a ham!!

DSC_1103

Cailyn and I were playing peek-a-boo.  She always has her eyes on mommy these days.  I leave the room and she will start squawking, not crying just talking very loudly as if to say…”Where are you mommy?”

DSC_1105

Then when I would round the corner I always get a smile!! So sweet!

DSC_1108

If Wesley is a ham then Lawson is a Diva, for sure.  This girl comes home and immediately puts on high heels (I took away her real ones because of poor choices this week so she is back to play ones!!)

DSC_1111

Lawson is so funny….can you tell who is watching her every move?DSC_1113

Hail, Queen Cailyn (that sounds about right!!)

DSC_1116

These are elephant ears that Collins cut for the kids to play with.  They are fanning Cailyn.  To bad she can’t eat grapes yet!!!

Thank you Lord for the Quiet (awesome weather) before the storms.  We LOVE this weather.

BTW- What were you doing when you felt the earthquake?  Wasn’t that crazy??? Wesley, Cailyn and I were having a snack at the table.  I thought a large truck was coming by the house.  So weird.

Swim Lessons

The big kids have been taking swim lessons the last two weeks (when we have been able to get there due to car issues).  The kids are having a great time and I am happy to report they are learning lots.

Wesley’ class…

Go Wesley, go Wesley…

Lawson is a little fish.  The teacher told me Lawson is a very strong swimmer and if she kept up with it could be very good…can you say swim team next year!

DSC_0533DSC_0537

I will be honest I give her semi-full reign at the pool and when I was doing my scan of where Lawson was how shocked so you think I was when I saw her 30+ feet up high??

DSC_0543

Now she goes down the big slide all by herself!!!

DSC_0544

Lawson after the big slide ride.  I bet she went down 15 times that day!

DSC_0546

Luckily Wesley is perfectly content on the slides only 4 feet high!

Last but not least Sweet Cailyn.  She loves the pool too!

Time with Grammy and Pops

After the July 4th Holiday Collins, Cailyn and I left the beach and the big kids stayed for a fun filled few days.  I was a little worried about leaving Wesley but let me tell you the child never for one moment got homesick.  Hmmm, my plan for a momma’s boy might not be going exactly to plan- Kidding… With all the fun activities at the beach the kids had a blast!!!

Before we left we got a picture of the grandparents and the kids. They love their Grammy and Pops!

Pops and Grammy with kids

I know I do not have the pictures in order but here is a little synopsis of their days together.

The kids had art time…(I now am a proud owner of two sun ornaments, love them)

Art Time

The had exploring time…this was there favorite time I think…

Exploring Time

Lawson collecting several different types of specimens.

Lawson digging for crabs

Checking them out and describing them.

Checking out our discovery

They kept them for a short while and then let them go.

Hermit Crab

Lawson caught lots of crabs.

Learning about crabs

It was pirates night at the Aquarium.  FUN, FUN!

Pops and Wes Aquarium

Wesley loves sharks and was THRILLED to see this sand shark get inches away from him and bury in the sand.

Wes and Lawson Sand Shark

They also went to Fort Macon to check out the cannons.

Fort time

Pictures from the fort…

Gale the kidsJames and kids

This left the kids exhausted!! The child that never sleeps during the day took a nap almost every day!  Go figure!

DSC_0361

Grammy and Pops, I know for a fact the big kids time with you was a trip they will not soon forget.  Thanks so much for taking such good care of them…so when are you ready for three????

Let’s go Fishing!!

One of Collins’ favorite hobbies happens to be fishing.  I really think he could fish everyday if he could.  While we were at the beach over the 4th (a little late in my post, sorry) Collins took the kids fishing several times.  The kids LOVED it. Fishing is not gender specific in this house.  Girls can fish too (or at least Lawson can!)  Not only that Lawson caught more fish too!!

Here are some pictures of their experience…

Wesley waiting so patiently…

DSC_0340

What a beautiful sunset.

DSC_0344

Lawson waiting patiently too…except with a little more attitude (in a model type of way)

DSC_0353

Lawson was the first one to catch a fish.  She reeled it in all by herself too!!

DSC_0357

I forgot the final count but I think Lawson ended up catching 3 that evening and Wesley caught 2.  (Wesley probably would have had more luck had he kept the tip of his rod out of the water!)
