Do you want to have fun?....No

Wesley is at this wonderful/terrible stage that his answer to everything is "NO."  It is very typical of the 2 age but it is HIGHLY ANNOYING at times.  What 'No' means to a 2 year old...

1. No = no

2. No = maybe but you have to entice me

3. No= I am testing the waters and I want to see how long it takes you before you put me in time out

4. No= I am tired and that is all that can come out of my mouth

5. No= because I refuse to give you the benefit of saying yes (even if I know I am going to have fun)

If you have a two year old you know what I am talking about! 

On Sunday my neighbor was excited to show off his new toy of a golf cart for his mountain house.  Well, Lawson was so excited to get to ride she immediately joined Bob.  Then there was Wesley...he REFUSED to get on.  Saying "no, I am not riding" 

I should add this was situation #5!! (I have other pictures but they refuse to load so my story feels choppy)

Anyway, we got him on...with him pouting. 

Lawson had a good time!!

Although, he was quite temperamental getting on and squealed "No" guess who had a good time too?

This too shall pass.  Just want to make sure when the 3rd one is doing this exact same number I remember "it is a phase." 

Oh, and let me add "Momma does know best!!" ;)

Wesley Talk

Today I had a Dr appt and took Wesley with me. This was the first time I've had to take him. One of the routine check-ups steps is to pee in a cup and Wesley had to witness this wonderful event. He was quite impressed with the whole process ( and had lots of ?s). Well, we went back in the waiting room and not 5 minutes later Wesley says quite loudly " I have to go potty. Can I pee in a cup?"

Not only was I cracking up but so was the rest of the waiting room. When we got out a nurse asked me if I let him pee in a cup and I told her no. She said " why not?" Too funny.

Lawson asked me to put a towel in her hair like I do after showers. She looked so beautiful and sparkling clean.

For my memory- Lawson started taking showers at 5 yrs old. Bye-bye baths!

Spying on Wesley.

A couple of nights ago I told Wesley to go into his room and pick out his books to read that night.  I realized not only did he listen to me (sometimes not always the outcome), but had made himself quite comfortable in his room "reading" his books himself.  This makes me happy!! I am so happy that my children LOVE to read. 

 I also love it that I could capture this moment without him noticing me!!

Well...almost.  He saw me but continued to read. When I went to grab this book to read that evening he told me "Not that one I already read that one."

I love my Wesley!!!

Seafood Festival 2010

This weekend we went to the beach to enjoy their annual Seafood Festival.  It is a great family event and everyone had a great time.  We decided to go to the Seafood Festival this year rather then the State Fair and I think we have all had our fill of Festival festivities and junk food.

One nice thing about the Seafood Festival it is literally a block away from were Grammy and Pops live so we were able to go once during the day and once at night.  Then I was able to run back there Sunday morning to pick up a Christmas gift.  That is convenient!!

This is the first time both kids rode a ride without us.  They did great!  We they rode a couple more but no pictures.

When we came back in the evening all the kids talked about was going fishing.  $10 later in kiddie pool of a contraption called a 'fishing hole' we got a plastic football and a toy penguin.  (I think I am going be a vendor who does this next year!!)

Wesley did not want to ride any rides that evening. He was perfectly happy having daddy hold him.

Fun fun!!

Wesley was interested in the food.  Funnel Cakes, Lemonade, & Ice Cream to be exact.  We could not get him to eat anything but junk food.  Oh well!  At least he had fun!

Lawson also had her fair share of junk food too.  Isn't that what a Festival is all about?

It was a fun time!! BTW- We intended to go to the Seafood Festival for it's seafood but all the smell of grease and fried food made me want to throw-up. So I ate a steak fajita. If they had oysters I would of been all over that but no oysters anywhere. :(

22 Weeks Update

I have really nothing to post so I thought I would give you (or mainly for me) a brief update on my progress.

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 22 Weeks

Size of baby: Baby Fitts Girl should now be over 1lbs

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 10 lbs (I think) - I'm no very big at all (very surprising). I gained all my weight at the end so I'm sure it's coming!

Maternity Clothes: None. I'm wearing my normal clothes still.

Gender: Girl

Movement: She moves all day and sleeps at night.  Hopefully this pattern sticks ;)

Sleep: I am sleeping good right now.  I wake up once to go to the bathroom.

What I miss: Not going to lie a beer!  Bud Light Lime to be exact.

Cravings: Italian food- I love some pasta. If I could find my way to an Olive Garden they would have to roll me out of there!!

Names:  Still can't decide...or one of us can't decide.

Symptoms: None...just keep on keeping on.

Best Moments this week: Wesley telling people mommy has a baby girl in her belly.  Also, Lawson getting dressed without any fighting 4 out of 4 days this week.  It made for very pleasant mornings!! Thank you, Lord!!

Worst Moment this week: Finding out on Thursday night through a prerecorded phone call that there is no school on Friday because of a Teacher Work Day. I SO would of been the parent to roll up there at 8:35AM to be very surprised. How in the heck did I miss that??? Baby Brain...or just plain ol' stupidity.  I am thinking it is the later.

Lawson's First Homework Assignment

Lawson has finally gotten her first homework assignment.  I was VERY excited when I saw it was be as creative as we you want to be.  Her assignment was to design a child cut out to look like you, use whatever material you would like except food.  I let Lawson have full use of all my artsy stuff and here is Lawson 2.

Lawson designed this ALL by herself.  I helped with the tracing but she cut everything out, glued it and drew all the details.  What impressed me most (and I didn't get a picture but I showed it to my mom) is before we started this project Lawson drew on another paper the process in designing her doll.

First she drew the face & hair, the shirt, the skirt, the shoes, the bow in the hair, the belt, the necklace, etc.  You get the idea and we had to go in order.  She would cross it off as she went.  She is so organized and meticulous (she did not get that from me.)  I was so impressed on her work ethic too.

I should mention that Lawson knows she has brown hair and it is short but she wishes she had long blonde hair like a princess.  So Lawson 2 got the long blonde hair.  Is that normal to already wish for at age 5 something you don't have?? 

Yay! For Homework Assignments.  I know I wil not be saying that in a couple of years but for now they are exciting and fun. Or my speed...art projects. Haha!

Welcome Rain

This Sunday & Monday we got some much needed rain.  The kids were extra excited because Lawson just got some new rain boots and Wesley inherited all of Lawson's old rain gear.  Of course, we had to go out and give it a try!

 And ran...this was too much fun for a 2 year old boy.  He LOVED running and running in the rain.

These pictures reminded me of the last time the kids played in the rain this summer. Of course, their Aunt Lauren is much cooler then me and played in the rain with them. 

No matter what age, playing in the rain is fun.

What moves around your house at night?

This Saturday morning we got a little surprise in our kitchen.  Of course, I am there to document this so all!  When I woke up Saturday, from the couch in the den (I move there sometimes at night when I am restless) I found a nice black trail coming from under the end table (next to my head) going to the length of the kitchen.

At the end of the trail I found this...

To me at 7AM it was a black blob that was not there the night before. I can handle bugs and spiders but a black unexplainable blob...I think not.

So what does any good wife do?  I wake up hubby to investigate.  Of course, the kids over hear and join in the excitement. 

My hero, Collins, picks up the black blob to find out it is a F-R-O-G!!  Can you say GROSS???

Wesley was hot on the trail and found lots of markings around the den and kitchen...like on Dah's computer which was on top of the hearth. 

Our best theory... A frog got in the house, and climbed into the fireplace.  He must of been up there a while and finally dropped down. (A little reminder we need to clean out our fireplace this year) Then hopped around the perimeter of the den. Have I mentioned before this was RIGHT NEXT TO ME???? Then hopped into the kitchen where he took his last breath. Yes, it was dead when we found it. 

Too much excitement for one Saturday morning!!

Despite the dead frog in the kitchen we were still able to enjoy Overnight Cinnamon Rolls I made.  Let me just tell you --DELICIOUS!!  I was very proud of my homemade rolls. First, attempt was a total success.

It is always interesting in this house!!

Week in Review

This is our 4th week of school (I think) for Lawson and our 2nd week of school for Wesley.  Somethings have gotten easier like me waking up so early, and other things still like to challenge us.  Like getting dressed. I am not going to go into all the horrible details just know I have been challenged like I have a teenage daughter.  This challenge has brought me to tears more then once and questioned all my of my motherly instincts.  However, with talking to several people we might of found a solution (or one that works for us right now.)  I have a "Lawson Dressing Chart" and for the last 2 days it has gone very welll.  I will admit I am not above bribery and someone is getting a piece (small) chocolate at 8AM but it is so much better then the alternative!! 

Wesley is LOVING school.  He loves his teacher and his friends.  His teacher did inform me he had quiet time yesterday and her exact word "You didn't tell me you had a yeller?"  my responce "I haven't really noticed." With a hint of sarcasism.  Maybe that is because I have gone deaf from the years of yelling.  So Welsey said all day "We use our words and we don't yell."  I have been telling that boy that same line for at least a year but it gets repeated when someone else says it?  Go figure.

Funny Stories Now:

Lawson asked me this week "Mommy do you like to dust?" 

Me: "No, why?" 

Lawson:  Because your house is really dusty and it is making me cough. Can you please dust?

I just got told by a 5 year old that I stink at cleaning.  NICE!!

Wesley:

We are FINALLY painting Wesley's room.  It has been a nice pee yellow with bone color trim for 5 years (this is the way it was when we moved in).  This week my wonderful hubby has been painting walls and trim for his son.  One morning Wesley walked in the room to see the progress and he said "This is gorgeous!! I LOVE it" 

If that doesn't make you feel good I don't know what will.
