Baby Legs–Let’s Get Physical

DSC_1243

This weekend it got warm enough for Cailyn to sport a NC State onsie that I made her before she was born. As a true girl she had to accessorize with some matching Baby Legs.  OMG, I LOVE THESE!!! Her skinny legs didn’t even begin to fill them up, but  I am pretty sure it doesn’t get any cuter.

DSC_1236

Karen, you were right, only a NC State fan can appreciate Baby Legs like these!!  Thanks!

Olivia Newton John

For some odd reason while Cailyn was wearing these Baby Legs I had Olivia Newton John’s song “Let’s Get Physical” running through my head!!  I love that song!!

Cailyn is 1 Month Old

DSC_1246

I can not believe Cailyn is already one month old.  Wow!

One small dilemma of having a birthday on the 31st not every month will she have a monthly birthday, so on the months without 31st I will do her monthly posts on the 1st.  Also, I will stop doing weekly updates (so I don’t bore you!)

Let me see if I can tell you anything new about Cailyn…

1. She lost her umbilical cord this weekend.

2. Cailyn sleeps 5.5-6 hours the first stretch of the night and then 3-4 hours (or until I wake her up because we have eat before we leave for our hike to school)

3.  She has more “awake” time during the day.  We love seeing her bright eyes!

4. I have packed away the Newborn clothes (sniff, sniff) she is now is 0-3months.  She is so long the Newborn clothes were restricting her from straightening out her legs.

5. I am proud to say Cailyn has not had a drop of formula in her first month of life.  This go around nursing has been a peaceful and pleasant experience rather then torture!!

Other things I want to mention before I forget…

I got the best compliment from my Grandmother the other day.  I was telling her that Cailyn is such an easy baby and it must be the third child!  She said “Now Maridith, I am going to tell you like my doctor told me when I had my third. The baby isn’t a better baby, maybe you are just a better mother!”  I like to think so but there is always room for improvement.

I also have to pause and thank everyone who helped make the transition from 2-3 kids so smooth.  This first month could have been CRAZY, but with the loving help of family, food from friends, and thoughts and prayers we have transitioned beautifully.  We are so grateful for your (you know who you are) generosity and kindness.  We have been so blessed !!  Thank you!

That is it from here. Gotta feed my hungry little girl!!

Father Daughter Dance

This weekend our church hosted a Father/Daughter Dance.  I am pretty sure I was more excited then either of them initially!  I have great memories of my MC Father/Daughter Dance and I was excited that Lawson and Collins have the same opportunity.  Once the two parties (who were actually going to the dance got dressed up they were excited too!!)

Collins and Lawson all dressed up!

The report back:  They had a lot of fun! However,  Lawson and Collins DID NOT win the dance contest.  Haha!! No fault of Lawson’s I am sure.

Sister Time

A great way to incorporate tummy time for Cailyn and play time with Lawson is for the girls to play together.  It was so fun to see Lawson and Cailyn interacting together.  Lawson would show Cailyn her dolls latest outfit and Cailyn would just observe her every move.  Cailyn was very alert and actually seemed to enjoy her tummy time with her sissy.  Note to self:  wait for Lawson before attempting tummy time for Cailyn.

They seemed to be having their own conversation.DSC_1112

Lawson: “What do you think sis??”DSC_1113

Cailyn: “ how about the blue shirt instead?”DSC_1116

Lawson “you have excellent taste Cailyn.  Love you”DSC_1110

Don’t worry about Wesley not getting brother time.  He and his daddy were in his room having a wrestling match and I am pretty sure Wesley was winning.  That boy shows no mercy towards his daddy!!

Our Crazy Unbelievable Night

What would you do if you woke up to this during the middle of the night?

DSC_1089

Not the best picture but I think  you can tell it is a FIRE!!

Yes, you read that correctly last night at 12:15AM I saw the perimeter of my back yard on fire.  I could see a shed was on fire (10+ foot flames) and the backyard of our side neighbors yard was on fire. I immediately woke up Collins with “Our house is on fire.”  Not exactly true but to get him out of the bed quickly those were my choice words.  It worked.  So Collins, Cailyn and I watched in disbelief the craziness unfold.  Actually Cailyn was asleep in my arms and was sleeping like a baby!

Because our yard and driveway has easy access to the backyard the firefighters used our yard for access.  See all the hoses. DSC_1090

I had to wake up my neighbor (Nancy, Bob was in the mountains) to inform her that her backyard was on fire.  Not the best way to wake up.  She came over to the house and we comforted her. She was a little bit hysterical.  I will admit I was too when I first woke up.  My only thought was the safety of my family and what we needed to do if we had to leave our home.  What would you grab besides the kids?  Makes you think.

This is were the fire started, It took about 40 minutes to put out this fire.

DSC_1091

This is the massive fire truck in our driveway.  I should mention Lawson was awoken by the lights.  She never got scared just watched all the craziness.  Wesley was sound asleep. Our street was lite up like Forth of July.  There were 5 fire trucks, 1 ambulance, 2 deputy sheriffs, and lots of volunteer rescuers’ cars.  It really was surreal.  I still can’t put my arms around all the events that unfolded in our yard!!

DSC_1095

They also used our extended driveway too.

DSC_1098

This is where it started.  Our back neighbor’s shed. Cause yet to be determined.

DSC_1101

This is our side neighbors yard.  Notice the fence was removed to access their yard.

DSC_1102

This is the back of our property.  This is the most damage we had.  Let this be a testimony to cleaning your yard of debris and leaves.  It is a FIRE HAZARD!!! Thank you, Collins for your effort to keep our yard so clean!  It did not spread to our yard but a few inches!

DSC_1106

The fire started on the right, back side and spread the whole length of our back neighbor’s property to the left.  It circled our property.  CRAZY!

DSC_1109

This is a good perimeter shot of our yard.  No damage.

DSC_1104

This is my neighbor’s shed that caught on fire and was destroyed, probably 50 feet from where the fire started. See how close our shed was too the fire?  But because we did not have leaves surrounding it- all was safe.

DSC_1107

Our neighbor Bob and Nancy were not as lucky (another reason being a pack rat is unsafe), but everyone is safe and that is all that matters.

DSC_1099

Something like this does help put things into perspective.  As long as my family is safe that is all the matters.  Material things can be replace..people can not!!

DSC_1007

I am going to get some rest.  It was a REALLY long night and I am now sick with whatever has been passed around this house!! Ugh!

I was born at…

This is Lawson the day she was born with a bear she received from her Aunt Donna.

I was born at Rex Hospital

Look at Lawson’s legs!!  Wow! Lawson was big baby.

This is Cailyn at 3 weeks with the same bear.

DSC_1078

Not quite as big as her older sister, but just as cute!

I thought it was funny to the sisters with the same pink bear.

3 Weeks Old

Cailyn is 3 weeks old!!

DSC_1070

Her short time in this world has completely changed my life- for the GREAT!! I really love being he mom to 3 wonderful kids. Cailyn is such a blessing and such a happy baby!!  She has makes it really clear too- I LIKE TO BE HELD!! I am not complaining I love it!

All rolled up (Lawson is my photographer)

DSC_1084

OR Wrapped in the Moby Wrap (love this thing)  Where is Cailyn??

DSC_1028

The other thing many people say (including us) Cailyn looks a lot like Wesley as an infant.  I think that is okay…Wesley is a pretty good looking fellow (if you ask me).

DSC_1080

Plus, he loves her with all his heart!!DSC_1082

Happy 3 Weeks, Cailyn!

Another one bites the dust

This time it is Collins.  Poor guy.  I can’t remember the last time he had a fever. It is a beautiful day and he is in the bed- that stinkers.  That left me with 3 kids to entertain on a day I was anticipating some other support (if you know what I mean.)  Somehow that seems to make the day a little harder- not sure why.  Plus, not getting a full night sleep makes mommy…not as sympathetic…am I a terrible person?  Don’t answer that.

Regardless, the kids and I are still having fun!

First we played in Cailyn’s room…just for a change of scenery.

DSC_1044

We taught Wesley how to play tic-tac-toe.  He was the “O”

DSC_1046

Then we played outside for about 2 hours.  Before the kids would do quiet time they wanted to draw something or make a card for Daddy.

Wesley is drawing a fishing picture for daddy.

DSC_1048

Cailyn was their cheerleader!  Yep, she is the kids biggest fan!

DSC_1052

The finished products for daddy.  Too sweet!

DSC_1053

After quiet time it is back outside we go!!

Collins, Get Well Soon!

Come on Spring!

We are loving this warm weather…please stick around.

Cailyn went outside to enjoy the warmer weather. She loves her new ride (stroller)

Temporarily checking things out…

Then back to sleep.

DSC_1043

Mr. Wesley loved the warm weather and has found a new love for the sandbox!!

DSC_1039

Lawson is feeling much better today but still at home since her fever did not break until last night!

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
