Wesley is 1!

Today my little man is one year old. Everyone says it "time flies" and it is so true. However, I can't remember what life was like without him (maybe I got more sleep but sleep is over-rated). Before Wes was born, I can remember thinking to myself "I don't know how I can love this baby as much as I love Lawson", but I learned within 1 second of seeing him, your love for your children does not get reapportioned your heart just grows that much more! I remember feeling like my heart was going to pop right out of my chest the second I saw him. I also remember thinking "he is BIG boy!"

When we brought Wes home he completed our family. Collins and I are so blessed that God gave us our beautiful son!!

Wes is a man of 8's. He was born within 8 minutes of pushing, on the 8th of 2008, at 9:38am, and weighed 8 lbs 8 oz. I think 8 might be his lucky number! So I am going to tell you 8 things that Wes is doing today on his first birthday...

1. Wes is starting to walk. Everyday he gets stronger and braver!
2. We are off of formula and bottles (bye-bye)
3. Wes is really starting to communicate with pointing rather then grunting or yelling (thank you!)
4. Wes loves laughing with/at his big sister!
5. He is a meat and potatoes type of guy!! There has not been one type of meat he won't eat, crazy!!
6. Wes loves throwing things, In his mind if it is not nailed down it is suppose to be thrown, right?
7. Wes has been a habitual waker-upper at night. I think we are on the verge of breaking him of this habit (thank you!)
8. Wes has 7 teeth with 1 on the way

I really could write a lot more (he loves balls, putting things in and out of containers, putting the proper lids on containers, climbing the steps, and knows some sign language) but I will stop here since I said eight things. hehe!!

Nothing melts my heart faster then seeing his adorable smile!!

Happy 1st Birthday Wesley!! We look forward to all of the wonderful and neat things you are going to learn this coming year!!

My Little Man is starting to walk!!

Wesley is now venturing into another stage of his life, right before his 1st birthday! Yesterday morning Wesley woke up extra early and did not show any signs of going back to sleep. So we drank, ate and went to the playroom to not disturb anyone. Well, once Wesley got settled into playing with something I decided to check my email. As I was on the computer, back facing him- my son - WALKED RIGHT PAST ME!! I caught him out of the corner of my eye and we was clearly walking without any assistance towards some other toys near the desk. Not really sure how long he had been walking. I was completely blown away!! Trying not to startle him I got up turned him around and he WALKED right back to me!! I couldn't believe it!!

Wes is a tad stubborn and won't walk with you unless it is on his own will. If you try to put him on his feet rather then his behind the child gets spaghetti legs. I really thought walking would be another month or 2 away. He fooled me!!

I have tried to capture it on video without success. He only walks when he wants too!! I tell you he is stubborn (no idea where he gets it from). So until then you will just have to believe me.

His other accomplishment these days is climbing the whole flight of stairs in 10 seconds flat!! He is fast!!! I am in trouble once he starts running!!!

Lawson Talk

Just so you know...

"Princess do not pick up, but we do vacuum"

She figured out (Christmas Day) the vacuum does not really pick up dirt. So for a while she was sticking dirt down the tube and making it go all the way into the storage container. Finally she said "Mommy, this isn't real I need a real vacuum to clean this dirty mess!" Now she uses both the real dust buster and her vacuum to get the job done. What was Santa thinking to get her a FAKE vacuum!!

Lawson and Buster

My parents own a cat or have a cat because a college student (not naming names) decided to bring a cat home one summer and the cat never went back to school with her. Then the cat became a very expensive cat because it has diabetes. Oops!! ANYWAY that is not the point of this story. (Love you mom and dad!)

So, every time we go home Miss Lawson loves to play with Buster. She loves to pick him up even though she promises she won't. Buster at the age of 10 really does not seem to mind. He loves the attention. I am sure Mom and Dad would LOVE to give Lawson the gift of Buster but I don't think so!!

I caught her red handed picking up Buster!

Lawson seeing if she can stash him away in her luggage!!

Yesterday, I took Lawson to the pet store and she saw the cats to be adopted. She said "mommy, I want a cat, they are sad, and the want me to pick them up!!" If that was all they would need, maybe I would get a cat but not today!! For now she can love on Buster from afar!!

BTW- She loves looking at these pictures!

Hunting Times!

I love this time of year. My man goes out hunting and gathering to "provide for his family." Haha!! It totally cracks me up when he uses that excuse. Good thing we don't rely on his hunting and gathering or we would STARVE!!! We do have some venison in the freezer but not enough until next year!! (I don't know why this is underlined, sorry)

This week Uncle Will and Collins hunted Mon- Wed. Thank goodness deer season is over!!

Uncle Will with Wesley and Lawson (notice the camo pants on Wes)

Daddy and his kiddos.

Uncle Will with Wes in his camouflage and his Wofford bib. We love our Uncle Will!!

Both Will and Collins have a NC Lifetime Fishing and Hunting License. Wesley just joined the gang and now is a proud member of the NC Lifetime Fishing and Hunting License. Thanks Grammy and Pops! No expectation or anything son!!

It is kinda funny Collins has already seen a pink 22 that he would love to get Lawson when she is much older (with mommy's approval). You ask Lawson do you want to hunt with daddy she will say "Maybe but probably not." That's my girly girl!!

Christmas at The Capital

Air Force Memorial. Just opened up this year. It is so pretty and it really reminds me of the St. Louis Arch for some reason. I am so proud of my grandfather and my dad who were in the Air Force. Glad they finally have a memorial for them in DC and it was built with private funds. It is right by Arlington Cemetery and looks over other monuments on the other side of the river.

Lawson did not want to stay with us so she got a free ride on daddy's shoulders

It was beautiful in downtown DC!!

Going Green- The smart car

Lawson and Wes' New Year's Resolution is to go "green."

It is about the same size!! What do you think???

Happy New Year!!

Let's Celebrate!!

Welcome 2009!!

Cheers!

This is sparkling (edit: grape juice). You know the stuff your parents let you drink so you would think you were an adult at the dinner table!!. Since Lawson is 3 going on 23 we thought a little sparkling (edit: grape juice) would be fun!!
