Gingerbread House 2009

This weekend we decided to do a Gingerbread House for our weekend project. Let me tell you...contructing a Gingerbread house is harder then it looks!!

I am working really hard to make sure this thing doesn't fall apart underneath me! I'm the mom...I gotta look like I know what I am doing!

All Wesley cares about is the CANDY!! Lawson just wanted to help...until she got sick and fell asleep on the couch and woke up with a 102 fever. She is fine now, less then 12hrs sickness.

The Finished Fitts Gingerbread House.
Lawson's Side...She settled with simplity...This where Santa's sleigh landed and you can see his trail in the snow.

This is Wesley's side. He was 1-1-2 for candy...
1 On the floor
1 On the roof
2 In his mouth!!!

Oh so sweet!!

Our friend's 3rd Birthday Party

This weekend Lawson was invited to her friend Siena's 3rd Birthday. It was a super cool birthday. They had the Tumble Bus (a bus full of gymnastic equipment and toys) come to her house.

When we got there we had to wait for the Tumble Bus to set up so the kids anxiously waited for it peering out the front window.

Then it was time to get on the bus, and Lawson shied away. After much convincing, I finally got her on! Here is is with some of her best buds Siena and Quinn.

Now I am not sure who was the instigator here but these two seemed to be looking for an escape route!! They were concentrating on this window way too long and pulling at the leaver.

Then it was time to go inside for cupcakes. The birthday girl!

Happy 3rd Birthday Siena!!

We had a great time!

Baby it's Cold Outside

When it gets below 30 at night that means in our house we get to have a real wood burning fire!!! Lawson is Daddy's fire building buddy. It is a very important role!!

Daddy and Lawson

Great job give me five!!

Wesley was excited too!!

Friday evening we all sat around watched a movie "Dora the Explorer!!" Although it wasn't a movie of my choice (or Daddy's or Wesley's) it was an excellent way to spend the evening-with FAMILY!

The Untold Story

Recently on my Procrastinator Crafter Blog I posted pictures of Lawson in this tunic top I made her. Oh so cute, right? What wasn't said was how much darn work it took to get this child in this outfit.

DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO DRESS A FOUR YEAR OLD???

Everything started out great that morning, we had a nice breakfast we were laughing and talking about Denny's adventures and how he landed in his new spot. Then the moment came for Lawson to get dressed. I should note Lawson knew that particular day was spirit day and she had to wear red or green and she knew exactly what Mommy had made for her to wear. So getting dressed should be a breeze, right?

Ha-ha, PLEASE!! First it was the turtle neck was to tight around her neck and the complaining and whining was enough for me to call it a day and it wasn't even 8:30AM & I had not had a Coke. After walking away from her (and maybe a little screaming) she finally walked up to me and said "I am use to it now, it isn't too tight." Okay, then it was the tunic time. Now getting into a pillowcase tunic top is not the easiest thing in the world. You have to tie one side then the other and maybe adjust. Well, it was too tight, then it was falling off her shoulders, then it was not Christmasy enough...do you see where I am going with this? After 10 minutes of adjusting & whining...it finally was fine.

Then God help me it was time for socks and shoes. All the socks tickled her feet!! I knew just want to do at this point...leave the darn socks off!! I truly don't care!!

Finally...it was time for hair...Thank goodness she can brush her own hair and all I had to do was throw in a bow!

20 minutes of torture on both sides...

For this...

There is a reason why mothers have unwavering love for their tikes...because this morning I was truly ready to throw in the towel!! I realize now after writing this all out part of my frustration was to make sure she looked extra cute for her school spirit day. I had high expectations and when I didn't see my child being appreciate of my efforts my temper was much shorter then normal. I realize now that was my issue and not hers. Oh, sometimes I truly do fail the test of a good mother but at least I can see my errors and try to work on them!!

Visit with Santa

On Wednesday Wesley and I went to a story reading with Santa at a Local Library. Let me tell you, it was HOPPING! I have never seen so many people at a library in all my life. We got there late because I got lost and then had to park 2 blocks away! But we made it in time to hear "The End" We didn't hear the story but we were the first to get snacks so that was a bonus!

The boy could kill a bag of M&Ms if I gave him the chance!

I figured I had sweetened him up with sugar so he would be excited to see the man who delivers the most sweets & treats. Santa Claus...
Guess who was wrong???
All I can say is I tried. No sweet pictures of Santa and Wesley this year. (I am smart enough to not even try with Lawson)
Of course, once he was a good distance away from Santa he was waving and smiling and saying "Hi Santa!!"
Me and my sweet boy!!
Although the Santa visit didn't go so well the partaking in cookie decorating went very well!!
Maybe next year...

Hearing my Heart

I have recently finished a Bible Study Called Captivating - Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul. It was an awesome soul searching Bible Study that truly has changed my life forever. I have found peace in my heart and soul that I have never felt before. I learned a lot about my heart as a women and how I tick. Then above all else God knows how a women works- We work through our hearts.

Why am I going into all this…Wednesday I was in a funk. I could honestly say I might have been in and out of this funk for a couple of days, but Wednesday it hit me like a ton of bricks.

I was feeling overwhelmed with some of the commitments I have obligated myself too. My kids were getting on my very last nerve because things were not going the way I envisioned them to go. On top of that I felt like I was not being a good mom, a good person and things were not clicking in my household. Ever have those days??

By mid-afternoon I said a long prayer to the Lord asking for help getting myself out of this funk.

Well, God heard my hearts request. He knew exactly what I needed and when I needed it. All I can say is God is good.

1- I received in the mail 2 items addressed just to me. The first was a lovely card handwritten and filled with such thoughtfulness and love. It was just the things I needed to hear! I don’t know how she knew it but she did. God was truly sending me a message through her and I am SO GRATEFUL!! Thank you!

2- Then I received a package from the MOPS Organization. It was a book called Life on Planet Mom – a down-to-earth guide to your changing relationships. Uh, BINGO!! This is me, this is what I need. I really should be reading and not writing.

3- Finally, I spent the evening with a dear friend of mine and we went to Grief Share Meeting- Surviving the Holidays. It really did my heart good to go. Thanks for inviting me!

I am amazed God knew exactly what my heart needed. I am feeling so much better then I was yesterday or the day before. I am not sure if it is the time of year or just me, but God heard my heart and knew exactly what I needed even though I did not. I wish I could leave with a great passage from the Bible but I only know 1-2 by heart.

If you are wondering why I am telling you something so personal it is because I know that although it is not spoken we all have these days or moments. All I can say is pray, God is listening and he knows what your heart needs!!

It's Hard Being a Little Brother

Especially when your big sisters favorite game is dress-up!

This boy is in some serious need of power tools, trucks and and sports equipment for Christmas!!

I Need to Work!

Wesley's favorite phrases these days is "Hammer- need to work"

What a cute little worker he is!

I need to start putting a list together of all the things he needs to fix!!

Mommy the Unsung Hero!

Okay, so maybe Denny needs some landing instructions "DO NOT PARK YOURSELF ON A LIGHT BULB!!" Or you will burn your leg off!

I thought about it and my fellow readers (all 3 of them) are right. I need to fix Denny's leg or there is a REALLY good chance I will get one of these looks from a little girl named Lawson.
Or scar my children forever!
Mommy to the rescue! Denny is as good as new!
Kind of, so we will never forget his battle wound (mommy's stupidity) I left a small reminder.
Oh the things I do for these kids!! They have no idea!!

What is that smell?

Oops!!! We had a small accident and Denny has lost a leg!!
Have no fear the kids do not know, and if they do find out we will say he got burned coming down the fireplace (good idea Lauren!)
It is tough being an Elf on the Shelf!
