Quality Time with Wesley

I have been given a wonderful gift to be able to spend some one-on-one time with Wesley while Lawson is in school. Well, that is the way it is suppose to be! However, since the new school year has started I have extra busy during those hours with a Bible Study on Mondays, MOPS 2 Tuesdays a month then add errands, play dates and work- it ends up being I don't see much of Wesley. How easily I seem to make myself busy!

On Wednesday after a quick trip Santa sent me on (wink) I decided the rest of the morning was just me and Wesley- no distractions. We had so much fun! When it was almost time to come in and have lunch it dawned on my to take some pictures because he was darn cute.

Wesley mowing the leaves... (this is hazy because I took the picture from inside)

He was very busy!! Lots of leaves to clean up mommy!

Good Job Buddy!

I love my little boy!!

When it was time to pick up Lawson he was in the car saying "NO, NO, NO" I guess he enjoyed our quality time together...without sissy! I really need to make it a priority to spend one morning a week just me and Wesley!! This time goes by too fast!

Family Game Night

In our home Collins and I normally split night duty. He puts one child to bed and I put the other to bed and we switch which kid we get. On my nights to put Lawson to bed we play doll house. On Collins' night they play games or puzzles. (BTW- she never loses track on who's turn it is) On Saturday night it was Game Night. Since Grammy and Pops were here Lawson wanted everyone to play Game Night. They played Marbles (Wesley and I just observed.)

For some of us born after 1975 this is where your try to knock the marbles out of circle drawn in the dirt (carpet) with another marble. For Pops and Grammy this brought back some great memories.

Wesley got to watch!! He even took a turn to flick a marble to two. The boy has great aim!

You know what they say "A Family that plays together, stays together" Okay, nobody says that but it sounds good!

Lawson was the winner!!

I am sure you are wondering how we got marbles since they are so many OTHER toys, gizmos, and games out there for kids to play with. These were from Mamma II's collection. From one generation to the next!! I love it!!

Recognition

This weekend we cleaned out the garage (grunt!) and I found a story that was framed that I believe hung in my room as a child. I had to share it with you today because I think a LOT of moms can relate.

Recognition

"I don't want to hear another word!"
I hear my daughter scold.
"Dear me!" I think , "she's awfully strict
For a playful three-year-old!"
She rolls he big eyes heavenward
And sighs with great disdain.
"What am I going to do with you?!"
Her dolls hear her complain.
"Sit down! "Be still! Hold out your hands!
Do you have to walk slow?
Pick up your toys! Go brush your teeth!
Eat all your carrots! Blow!"
I start to tell her how gentle
A mother ought to be
When blushingly, I realize
She's imitating ME!

Fun with Seed

You know how most people with yards over seed in the fall??

A couple of weekend ago Collins over seeded the yard (dirt).

In the eyes of a 22 month old when he sees water being sprayed in the air what does he think...

WATER PARK!!

This is AWESOME!!

He just ran and ran!! And was soaked to the bone!!

Over seeding can be fun!!

Deer Season is Here

Right before deer season opened up there were 3 deer n our front yard.

Close-up. They were just staring at us....pretty much taunting Collins!

Now that deer season is here...I am happy to report the hunter has provided food for his family...haha! Collins always jokes that he has to hunt "to feed his family" Yep, because if it wasn't for his hunting skills...we would starve!!! He cracks me up!

Since Wesley is too young to hunt I thought I would make him some deer crossing overalls!!!

Happy Deer Season!!
Wow, I never thought I would say that!!

What makes a mommy mad?

I am all for my daughter learning to write her letters...

BUT THIS IS TAKING IT TOO FAR

Then the culprit proceeds to tell me "Wesley did it"

THAT IS WHAT MAKES A MOMMY MAD!

Computer Time for the Kids

You can never start too early...

We set up Lawson's Leap Frog Computer again, and Wesley wanted a part of the action too. Since Lawson's keyboard is wireless (very high tech), Collins made Wesley's keyboard "Wireless" too.

Wesley's keyboard is an old keyboard. He thinks he is playing too!!

Somewhere in all these toys is two kids playing on the computer! I swear!

And yes, the "fort" is still in the playroom!! Maybe it will be gone by Christmas!

Pumpkin Time

Time to get the family pumkin...

I think someone is excited...he was doing his happy dance!

Of course, I planned on getting the perfect kid picture but no one would look at me...

Lawson & Wesley got to pick out a little pumpkin for them. Lawson 'delivering' Wesley's pumpkin!

For the moment these were the pumkins they picked out. They ended up with two totally different pumpkins at the end...to many choices

The final picks!

Happy Pumpkin Time!

Fall Back...it is coming!!

I am all for L-O-N-G summer days, but when you have children and they see it is still light outside when the clock strikes 8PM there can be a struggle....

But now that Daylight Saving Time is coming to an end and days are getting shorter there is a bonus...

Kids go to bed EARLIER and EASIER!!

BONUS FOR THE PARENTS!!

Just my parting thought for the day...night, night!

Outdoor Play with Wesley

While the cat is away the mouse will play! 4 days a week Lawson is gone in the morning. Therefore, Wesley can play with ALL of Lawson's toys!!

The nurturing side of Wesley...pushing the stroller so nicely!

The TOTAL Boy Side of Wesley...Luckily no baby dolls where involved

Wesley working on his soccer skills (Lawson's ball)

Okay, kicking wasn't working so well...so he uses his hands...

Think it worked a little too well! Uh-oh!!

Homework Time for Lawson

This week (the first week in October) Lawson has been coming home with homework in preschool. Now, this might not seem like a big deal to some, but "HELLO, My baby has homework!!"

Here is the amazing part...(unlike her mother) she LOVES homework. Now, take into consideration she gets to use crayons rather then textbooks, but still she looks forward to it. Let's hope she is like this when she is high school!

Lawson writing her name...very important first step

For once in my life my timing is perfect!! I just finished this desk in our den. Read about it here. Lawson said to me "Thank you mom for making me a homework desk" Music to a mommy's ears! That was the intent, I just didn't know it was going to be used THIS year!!

Here is the finished homework.

I am happy to report she got an sticker for her fantastic artwork. Then last night we started getting Letter worksheets. They are starting with the letter "L" I love it!!

To cut or not to cut...that is the question

Okay, so it has been brought to my attention (by someone in this home) that it is time to cut Wesley's hair. I am not sure exactly why but I have been very reluctant to cut his hair. Maybe because it seems ODD that I need to cut my son's hair at 21 months when my daughter didn't need her hair cut until she was 2.5yrs old. Plus, once his hair is cut he is just one step closer to being a little boy rather then my baby. Plus, his hair is so beautiful and blonde...I LOVE IT!!(Yes, I have issues)

Here is my baby boy one year ago this month... We would call him "Mr. Clean" because his head was so round and bald!!

Here is Wesley now...
The back view

Okay, maybe their is a slight resemblance to "Billy Ray Cyrus" but that is only when his hair is WET!!!

To make this fun, I am going to ask you what you think??? Not that your response will sway me one way or the other...I just thought I would ask your opinion... Should I cut his hair now or wait until he is 2? Take the poll on the side :)
