A Tour Around Our Container Garden

Our yard is pretty much rocks, rocks and more rocks.  Plus, lack of good sunlight and irrigation it is very hard to have beds of flowers.  For 2 years now the most we have grown is a few herbs and tomatoes in a pot.

This year I have to say Collins has just wowed me with the potential our little plot of land has and I just have to brag. Here is one pot at the corner of our garage.

 

Here is a cluster of flowers near my two rocking chairs (not shown)  This is the first thing you see coming up our driveway. Doesn't this just make you smile???

This is Lawson's pot.  She designed and planted this all by herself (Really, all by herself) I think she has a green thumb like her daddy.

At our old home we had TONS of flowers & seasonal color year round.  It is so nice to see some color at our "new" house that we have lived at for 4.5 years.  Thanks Collins for bringing back the color!! It is just gorgeous!!!

From Drap to Fab- Part 2

No we haven't painted the front door yet (it hasn't been 3 months yet) but we did get some other work done to the front of the house and what an improvement...

After 20+ years the brick pavers have finally been installed. On the original house floor plans there is a note "leave 3 inches for brick paver." Then in our backyard there were approximately 1000 pavers waiting to be installed. Special thanks to Total Masonry -awesome people to work with!! Why it took 20+ years I really don't know???? So gone is the unleveled, cracked sidewalk with an 11"step (hazard) and here is our beautiful walkway. Merry Christmas Collins & Maridith!!

From Drab to Fab (almost)

Our summer project this year was to paint the shutters to our home. We took them all down over the July 4th weekend and 3 1/2 months later they are on the house and it looks wonderful (thank you hubby) I can't believe it but I don't have a before shot of the house so I had to pull something out of the archives to show what it looked like before.

Now that the shutters are painted and up (finally!!) and looks a thousand times better. We need to paint the front door. We are struggling on what color to paint it. I need your help. Should it be black, a shade of red, green or yellow? Our home is in a very traditional (old) neighborhood and several houses on our street have the same color brick and same color shutters. None of them have a red door but why not be really different. I don't know it was just a thought. I saw a traditional home with a yellow front door on HGTV and thought it looked awesome. Now we know the front of the house still needs landscape but everything takes time and money!! Baby steps, baby steps!
