Time with Grammy and Pops

After the July 4th Holiday Collins, Cailyn and I left the beach and the big kids stayed for a fun filled few days.  I was a little worried about leaving Wesley but let me tell you the child never for one moment got homesick.  Hmmm, my plan for a momma’s boy might not be going exactly to plan- Kidding… With all the fun activities at the beach the kids had a blast!!!

Before we left we got a picture of the grandparents and the kids. They love their Grammy and Pops!

Pops and Grammy with kids

I know I do not have the pictures in order but here is a little synopsis of their days together.

The kids had art time…(I now am a proud owner of two sun ornaments, love them)

Art Time

The had exploring time…this was there favorite time I think…

Exploring Time

Lawson collecting several different types of specimens.

Lawson digging for crabs

Checking them out and describing them.

Checking out our discovery

They kept them for a short while and then let them go.

Hermit Crab

Lawson caught lots of crabs.

Learning about crabs

It was pirates night at the Aquarium.  FUN, FUN!

Pops and Wes Aquarium

Wesley loves sharks and was THRILLED to see this sand shark get inches away from him and bury in the sand.

Wes and Lawson Sand Shark

They also went to Fort Macon to check out the cannons.

Fort time

Pictures from the fort…

Gale the kidsJames and kids

This left the kids exhausted!! The child that never sleeps during the day took a nap almost every day!  Go figure!

Let’s go Fishing!!

One of Collins’ favorite hobbies happens to be fishing.  I really think he could fish everyday if he could.  While we were at the beach over the 4th (a little late in my post, sorry) Collins took the kids fishing several times.  The kids LOVED it. Fishing is not gender specific in this house.  Girls can fish too (or at least Lawson can!)  Not only that Lawson caught more fish too!!

Here are some pictures of their experience…

What a beautiful sunset.

Lawson waiting patiently too…except with a little more attitude (in a model type of way)

Lawson was the first one to catch a fish.  She reeled it in all by herself too!!

DSC_0357

I forgot the final count but I think Lawson ended up catching 3 that evening and Wesley caught 2.  (Wesley probably would have had more luck had he kept the tip of his rod out of the water!)

Pool Fun

Over the 4th of July I mentioned we went to the beach.  Grammy and Pop’s place have a really nice pool Sound side.

Here is Cailyn and I ready to go down to the pool.  Self picture in the mirror.  I couldn’t resist.  She was talking so cute in the mirror.

We blew up a float for her and had her chilling in it so she could watch her brother and sister.

Wesley was having SO MUCH FUN!!

Pops and Daddy got a work out pushing the kids in the water.DSC_0329

Wesley going on a ride.  The child was laughing so hard!! I love hearing a good gut laugh, you can’t help but laugh with him.DSC_0332

Cailyn was pretty much land locked, but she never complained.  It was really sunny and I really try to keep her out of the chlorine because her skin is so sensitive.

What a fun time at the pool.  Next post will be all about fishing.  By far Wesley’s favorite part of the whole trip!

4th of July at the Beach

This year the Fitts family got into the family car and headed down to the beach to visit Grammy and Pops.  It was a nice long weekend and we had a great time.  I have lots of pictures to share of the kids adventures but I thought I would first share our 4th of July pictures and how we celebrated.

Our first stop was the annual 4th of July Parade in Beaufort.  It was a little accident that we arrived there 30 minutes before the festivities started but a great accident, because the kids loved seeing all the floats, double decker bus, and getting candy (of course).  Had I known there was going to be a parade they would have been in their 4th outfits…oh well.

Cailyn enjoyed the…sounds.  Ha!

Wesley had a great view but the wind was fierce so he didn’t last long on his daddy’s shoulders.

While the big kids and their grandparents watched the parade close-up, Collins, Cailyn and I were in the shade.  Perfect chance for a close-up of us – boy I have a handsome hubby!

After the parade we went to the Maritime museum.  DSC_0384DSC_0387

Caught ya…Lawson is always picking up her brother, ugh.  I am not sure if it is to really help him or what, but goodness she is always picking him up!

Here are 2 of my cuties.  We will have to go back when Cailyn is old enough to get a picture of her in the ship!

After the museum we went by the waterfront and had lunch.  Lawson checking out all of the boats  It was a windy but gorgeous day!

After naptime we all got dressed up in our 4th of July outfits and went poolside for a cookout.  Here are some of pictures of the evening…

We had a great 4th of July.  Wesley favorite part of the evening were the Morehead City Fireworks.  They were actually amazing.  Wesley now wishes everyday there were fireworks!

A Trip up to VA

The week after Lawson got out of school I decided to take myself and the kids to see my family in VA.  I love visiting my family in VA and I had not been there since last summer!  So I backed out backs and off we went…

DSC_0045

3 kids in the backseat, 1 mommy and no DVD player (we are old school).  Believe it or not, the kids were AWESOME!  They played so nicely, had the best time with car games and helped me out with Cailyn when necessary.  We stopped twice on the way up and everyone was great.  Whew!

The kids were thrilled to see McKenna.  They love their cousin!  She was showing them her new potty  (can never start too young!)

DSC_0048

Lauren got a new Ipad2 and the kids had a great time playing on that.  Even Cailyn got into the action.

DSC_0046

Wesley just being silly.  He asked me to take his picture (which never happens so I took this picture)

DSC_0049

Lawson brought up her American Girl Doll and Nana pulled out Lauren’s AGD, Molly.  Lawson had a great time strolling them around.  So sweet.

DSC_0050

While we were their it was COLD (for June) we did make it to the park.

DSC_0055

We set up a picnic with the kids.  That was fun!

DSC_0056

Here we all are minus Cailyn (she was asleep in the stroller)

The kids enjoying the fresh air!

McKenna is such a sweet Newt (their nickname for her) she loved giving Cailyn kisses

DSC_0062

We did go to the pool and the kids had a great time there.

Then Dah surprised us and came home from OH early to spend some time with the kiddos. He took a day off and  Lauren and I decided to take the youngest kids to Target and leave the big kids with Dah.  At that point that is when our trip went a little sour.  Mom and Dad’s dog Butler escaped (thanks to a little boy letting him out) and the dog did not return until the next afternoon when someone returned him. Da*n Dog!!

It truly was the LONGEST night ever.  You can read about it here.  I am not sure if I was more upset about the dog or the fact that we might be THAT family that causes disaster everywhere we go.  I know you know those type of families  They walk into the room and everyone grabs all the breakables out of fear of what havoc they will cause.  I hope we aren’t that family…

I was relieved on our trip home that Butler was safe and sound at home.  All in all we had a great time in VA!! We will be back soon.
