In Honor of 9/11

Can you believe it has been 7 years since that awful day? Do you remember what you were doing that day when you heard the news?

I remember hearing the news from my boss that an airplane had hit the one of the Twin Towers. Then news came moments later that another plane hit the other building. I remember thinking this was no accident but what is going on!! I worked approximately 2 miles from RDU and I remember being scared out of my whits. Especially when we heard a plane had hit the Pentagon. What an unreal day. My friend Elizabeth came to pick me up and took me over to MC to see my sister. The fear of the unknown was awful!! That day will always be etched in my mind. Share with me what you remember about that day?

To the people who lost their lives that day you will always be remembered.

To the Troops overseas God Bless you and Thank you! I support you!

This is a memorial in Fayetteville, NC. These are actual steel beams from the Twin Towers. This represents the papers that fell from the building.

I remember siting in Lauren's dorm room with you guys in a state of disbelief and fear. I also remember the joy and relief when you guys found out your dad was safe. It is hard to believe it's been 7 years.

I was on my way to work talking to my mom on the phone and she said oh my goodness and plane just hit the world trade center. The rest of the day was awful. Someone had a tv at work and we watched as the first tower went down and how devastated the firemen were. It was awful.

First- I love to read your blog.

Ok- now to answer your question. I was preparing to teach my HLTH 140 class at UMD when the first plane hit. I watched on tv as the second plane hit and then the towers fell. Once in class, I told my students to go back to their rooms and watch it all on tv. History was being made. Since we were just outside of DC (and the pentagon was hit), MD was in a state of emergency. Although we were expected to be off the highway, I still had my graduate class that night!

I remember it well. I was sitting in the dentist chair (one of my least favorite places at the time cause i hadn't been in like four years) and i was waiting for the hygenist to come in. When she finally did, she said that a plane had just hit the world trade center. I remember thinking, "what? no way." When i got in my car my roommate had called in tears and told me what had happened on a voicemail message. She was very upset because her dad had an office at the pentagon. Luckily, he was ok (on a different side of the building). Then i called my mom crying cause i wanted to be with her. I wanted to drive to Raleigh so bad. She had already tried to call my uncle and cousins (in case they were in the city at the time, they live in NY). All circuits were busy for like hours. I just listened to it on the radio at work thinking, how can i be working when this is happening? Even now, i can't watch any of it without crying my eyeballs out.

I was home from school that day as I had surgery the day before. I saw on TV the first plane hit and then the second. I was very worried for you and your family as the Pentagon was hit. A day of disbelief and horror. I can only compare it to Pearl Harbor day. I have never felt completely safe since 9/11 for our country.
