Lawson Talk - "Inbetween List"

My sweet first child!!

Going to school on Tuesday Lawson and I had this conversation...

L: Mommy, did you know there is a Naughty list and a Nice list?
M: Yes I did know that.  Which one do you think you are on?
L: Do you think there is an "Inbetween list"?
M: I am not sure, why?
L:  Because you know I am not the best listener!

Words from my 5 year old!! At least she is honest!

Lawson Talk

Thanksgiving Day Collins asked Lawson to get dressed told her in a while we were going to take pictures.

She comes down in the SAME outfit she wore the day before.

Here is Collins and Lawson's conversation:

Daddy:  Lawson that is the same outfit you wore yesterday.  We don't wear dirty clothes.

Lawson:  It stinks a little but the camera can't smell it!!!!

Silly Girl!!

Lawson's 5th Birthday Party

This weekend we celebrated with freinds and family Lawson's 5th Birthday.  What 5th birthday is complete without horses?  Lawson asked for a Princess Horse Party and her wish was granted.

At Dead Broke Horse Farm.

Lawson was so excited to see all of the horse.

This place was filled with LOTS of different animals. The kids loved it.

Check out the turkeys. There was also dogs, cats, peacocks, rosters, chickens, ducks, guinea birds and miniature horses.

Here we are before the party guest arrived. Nana and Dah drove in from VA to celebrate Lawson's birthday with her!

Then it was time to ride.  Lawson (being Lawson) decided she was not going to ride.  She was just going to just watch everyone.  Trying to remain calm I just had to gently threaten her to spend the rest of the party in the car and then she got on... (why does she do that too me??)  After all that look at that smile!!

Mommy, Daddy and the Birthday Girl.

Lawson rode on "Little Man"

Lawson being led by her Daddy!! So sweet

The after the ride and lunch it was time for Birthday Cake.  Look at her smile. Love it!!

Then it was time to blow out the candles.  A little drama to blow out the candles but it was done. Siena is probably thinking "blow that thing out so we can have some cake!!"

Here is her BIG #5 Cake.

Lawson and the other Princesses at her party (minus Britan) I forgot to take a picture of all the boys.

Nana and Dah with the grandkids

Mommy and Daddy with the Birthday Princess and the Knight (the boy guest received foam swords)
My little girl's 5th birthday was a total success!! She had a blast, and I think the people who attended had a great time. We could not ask for anything more!!

Oh, this week has contained so many milestones...graduation and now 5th birthday what is next? Keys to the car....

Lawson told me a couple of weeks ago out of the blue "Mommy I promise I won't grow up too fast and I will always be your baby."  I am holding her to that...

Kid Talk

I can’t find my picture downloader thing-y so I am just going to have only words today. Sorry!

Wesley: Playing catch with Dah, W says to him “Nice catch, Dah!!” (You know because he is a good judge)

Lawson: Talking to Wesley “Wesley you know we have a responsibility”

Wesley:  "I am not listening, I am not listening."   (you don't have to tell me, I KNOW!!)
Have a great weekend!

Little Bit of This and That

Going Vintage:  Wesley is wearing a sweater that I believe belonged to one of my brothers.  Oh he looked so handsome!! Lawson is ready to go to school!

Lawson Talk #1:
One night for dinner we ate Holiday Spaghetti.  It is a much loved recipe from my Grandmommy.  This is Lawson and my conversation:

L: This is a delicious meal mom!
M: Thank you, this recipe is from your Great Grandmother the one who lives in Arizona.
L: Does she eat it everyday?  She should it is so good.
M: I don't think she eats it every day but when we went to her house she use to fix it for us
L: Well, it is wonderful....When are we going to fly on a plane to go and see her?

Lawson Talk #2
Mommy, why does Wesley talk so much now?  I liked him better when he didn't talk so much.

Lawson Talk #3
Mommy, God and Jesus are watching out over Aunt Lauren you don't need to worry!!
(Lauren had to drive home from work in 8" of snow Sat morning)

No Pictures Please

Potty talk below...be forewarned...

I was recently told by someone in my house that I take TOO many pictures and they were surprised I didn't have pictures of the kids' poop. Okay, I admit I take too many pictures but I do draw the line there!

Well, apparently my daughter doesn't know where my line is either....

Case and Point:

Sunday night Wesley is sitting on the potty and Lawson is watching over him. (Yes, Lawson is helping with potty training) Well, Wesley went number 2 and Lawson was cheering him on like a wonderful cheerleader!! Then Lawson calls out to me "Mommy, Wesley went poo-poo in the potty, go get your camera."

Gee wiz, maybe I do take to many pictures....

Meredith College Visit and Lawson Talk

Lawson has been extra funny the last few days. I need to walk around with a tape recorder because the girl really does crack me up!!

On Tuesday I told Lawson are plans for Wednesday. Our conversation:

M: Lawson, tomorrow we are going to see Siena and Britain.

L: Yeah!! Where are we going?

M: We are going to see them at Meredith College.

L: (giving me a puzzled look) Mom, I thought you told me I had to go to kindergarten before I went to college

M: Laughing so hard I couldn’t say anything else...but I was thinking and 1st, 2nd, 3rd, ect...

L: I crack you up, don’t I!!

M: Yes, you do. Yes, you do!!

We get to MC College and the girls are beside themselves to see each other. Siena informs us the MC is her college and she is going to MC. Rock on sister!! Lawson is impartial right now, but give her time.

The girls immediately hold hands and walk to our destination at the pond.
As luck would have it I had to buy bread on the way to MC for our sandwiches. Rather then taking just the bread I needed for sandwiches I took the whole loaf to the pond (not thinking). Guess who needs to buy more bread? The MC geese & turtles ate good yesterday.

We brought our soccer balls to play with too...

This really didn't last that long!

As we are leaving the amphitheater to eat lunch Charity had a bad turn of events and dropped her video recorder. At that point the life of the video recorder looked bleak and Charity was very upset. Lawson sees that Ms Charity is very upset and says to her “Don’t worry; they have those on sale at Target.” Lawson really did lighten the mood!!

Then getting back in the car Lawson found a nickel and told me to give the nickel to Ms Charity to help buy a new video recorder. So stinking cute!! I am happy to report, Charity called me and the video camera is not broken!!

Wesley was the only boy in the group!! This picture pretty much says it all...wait for me girls!

Wesley being Wesley!
Great smiles!!

Future MC Grads...next time we can add Britain to the picture (she was asleep)

I love going to MC!! We saw the new soccer fields and the new apartments. Beth just wrote me and said we need to get a MC reunion together. I could not agree more!!! The college is special but the friendships that I made at MC are priceless!!! Love you MC girls!

What's in a Name?

I have been thinking about this for a while and decided to post about What is in a name?

Now the word of the Lord came to me saying, 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I haw appointed you a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

This got me thinking....
Lawson: Means "son of law" well lets forget the 'son' part because Lawson is all girl. Let's just pretend it says just "of law"

Case and point...

A friend answered her Grandma with a "yeah"

Lawson says to the little girl "You say 'yes mam' to your Grandma not yeah"

I am thinking (okay practice what you preach and we will be okay)

Needless to say the Grandma was overly impressed and said Lawson could come over anytime!

She is going to be a Lawer!! Haha!! Because it isn't always about practicing what you preach, it is just knowing the law!

Wesley means West Meadow.... OKAY whatever that mean. Let me in on some of his nick names and it will make more sense...
"Messy Wessy" or "My Little Tornato"

See God did know my children by name...and he got it right!!!

I am sure there is nothing in the Bible about Dogs, but if there was He got it right too...

Meet Chewy...

Meet my back door!!
Chewy loves to chew...go figure!

Little bit of this and that

Let's see...Last Thursday I thought this whole "staying at home thing" was one of the worst ideas I had EVER had. I don't know waking up at 6:15AM (not normal), 1 screaming son, a daughter who talked back AND didn't listen!! I don't know, I was cranky, they were cranky it was just a bad day!! Thank God for more good days then bad days!!!

Then there was Friday...couldn't of been better!!! We went on lots of errands and they were PERFECT!!! They must of known.... :)

So I have to add a Lawson Talk story... At Lowe's Home Improvement on Friday at the check-out line talking with the cashier...

Lawson: Hi, Emily!!
M: how in the world did my daughter know her name was Emily???

Emily: Well, Hello how did you know my name was Emily?

L: I read it on your tag (Duh!!!)

M: What in the world is happening, my daughter can not read?

E: Well, what is your name?

L: Lawson Annabelle Fitts

E: How old are you?

L: I am 4 years and I was born on May 25th

E: (to me) You must be very proud?

M: (closing my jaw) Why yes I am....

L: This is Welsey James, but mommy and daddy call him James Welsey he is one

Okay...note to self: Close jaw in front of other so I don't appear to be so shocked!!! When we got out to the car I asked (grilled) Lawson on how she knew her name and she finally said "My friend at school is name Emily and I know her name" So we know a site word... Good Job Lawson!

Saturday: Wesley is now the "pesky little brother" he now hits, pushes, tries to bite Lawson all while smiling!! The child knows what he is doing!! Lawson will scream out "Mom he is taunting me" or "He is pestering me" All I can say is REALLY!!! Does it start this young? Yes, it does. Do I think it is going to get better...um, NO!! He went into his first timeout this weekend. There has to be a first for everything.

Today, Lawson had her 4 year check-up. She is still REALLY tall, in the 95% (42.5") and all systems are a go!!

Today Wesley is 17 months old. He is a LIVE WIRE!!! There is no slowing this guy down. He is like a monkey, he is loud, and is is full of energy!!! He is all boy and he is all mine!!! Love it!!! He is really talking these days. I think we are at 20+ words now!!! Just one day closer to talking back!!! HAHA!!

Lawson Talk

Don't let her looks fool you!!

Lawson, Wesley and I were in downtown Raleigh yesterday and parked right behind a cop car and the cop just happened to be standing by his car. Lawson was in the car saying "Oh no mommy, no!! We don't want a ticket" I assured her I was not getting a ticket and got out the the car.

The cop said 'hi' to all of us and Lawson said "Are you going to give my mommy a ticket?" He chuckled to himself and said "No, I am not going to give your mommy a ticket. Why, has your mommy done something bad?" Then my tell-it-all child said "YES." I am thinking "you little stinker" and walked away smiled and said a little prayer that I did not find a ticket on my car when I returned. When we returned there was no ticket, but it is like she WANTS me to get one. Little squirt!!!

Lawson wants a new mommy...

Our conversation today, after I took her doll house away for the 2nd day in a row:

L: I want a new mommy.

M: Why do you want a new mommy? (trying to not be hurt by a 3yr old)

L: Because you are not nice and put me in timeout all the time & take away my doll house (I should state for the record she is not in timeout all the time just 1-2 times a week, maybe)

M: Mommy does that to teach you a lesson, not to be mean.

L: Well, I want Sydney's mom and you can have Sydney.

M: I don't want Sydney, I want you.

L: I want Sydney's mommy because she is nice.

M: Mommy LOVES Lawson and only wants Lawson and you are making me very sad talking this way.

L: (after thinking about it for awhile) Well, you can keep me but don't talk to me for the rest of the day. I am having a bad day!!

What am I to do with that???? Just as soon as I think things are turning the corner (the terrible 3s are over) we hit a wall straight on!! Today in fact she has lost her dollhouse (again) and will not be seeing her dolls for quite some time. Why, because I am mean and take pleasure in taking away things she loves???

No, because we are having BIG issues listening. She doesn't listen to her pre-school teacher, me or her dance teacher. She seems to be in her own little world. The amazing part to me is when we talk about not listening she will say "Mommy, I think I need to read Howard B Wigglebottom Learns to Listen again"

Nope, I don't think that is the solution. I am thinking ears cleaned out, more restrictions, etc. Actually, I really don't know what the solution is. Just be consistent and keep moving forward. Anyone have any suggestions?

Lawson Talk

Do you think we are ready for another round of Lawson talk??? Remember anything is bound to come out of this little girls mouth. I am just thankful they are not curse words!!!

#1
Why do I have brunette hair, Daddy have brunette hair, Mommy have brunette hair, and Wesley have BLONDE hair?????

#2
L: Mommy I am ready for you to start making another baby and this time can she be a girl?

M: What would her name be? (looking back that was a silly question to ask)

L: Britian (Best friend Charity's daughters name)

M: I think that name is already taken and I don't think I am having any more babies

L: Well, um I don't think she will mind and yes you are!!

M: walking away from that conversation

Lawson Talk: Deal or No Deal

Last week Lawson was talking to my mom on the phone and this is the conversation I heard...

L: Nana, how is Buster (the cat)?
listening

L:Oh, I have an idea. How about if I give you Chewy and you give me Buster? Then you will have 2 dogs and I will have one cat, is that a deal??
listening

L: I will give you Chewy! (Desperate plea)
listening

L: Okay... (Very disappointed)

NO DEAL!!

Between you and me...I think Lawson will have a cat one day, no matter what her daddy says!

Lawson Talk

Just so you know...

"Princess do not pick up, but we do vacuum"

She figured out (Christmas Day) the vacuum does not really pick up dirt. So for a while she was sticking dirt down the tube and making it go all the way into the storage container. Finally she said "Mommy, this isn't real I need a real vacuum to clean this dirty mess!" Now she uses both the real dust buster and her vacuum to get the job done. What was Santa thinking to get her a FAKE vacuum!!

Great- Grandma Visit

Yesterday my grandmother, Mamma II, made a very quick visit up north. She flew in (if you knew how fast she drove you would say fly too) around 11AM and was out the door by 2PM. She brought us a wonderful lunch and gifts for everyone and then she was gone. I have not seen her since April but I will see her soon in SC! It is hard to believe Mamma II is in her 70s! I can only hope I have her energy and spunk when I am her age!

Mamma II brought her friend Gene with her. Lawson just loved him! I don't often get sad about my grandfather, Daddy Bob, passing but seeing Lawson hugging on Gene made me a tad sad because I know Daddy Bob would of been head over heels over his Great-grandchildren. Anyway... It was so funny when they left Lawson said "Mr. Gene doesn't have any hair, I will buy him some hair for Christmas, would that be nice?"

Thank you for coming up and seeing us it was a wonderful Christmas treat!!

Magic Doors

Our conversation leaving pre-school

L: Mommy, I want a car with magic doors. ( pointing to one of these...you know the doors that open up without anyone being around them~ MAGIC!!)

Mommy: I don't want a car with magic doors because that will make mommy feel old (something about driving a FULL SIZE Dodge Ram van in HS has scared me!!)

L: Oh! (thinking) Mommy, your not old so we don't need a car with magic doors.

Mommy: That's right, not now at least, okay?

L: When you get old then can we get a car with magic doors?

Mommy: Probably! (That will be my sign)

Lawson Talk - Today she is 3 1/2

I write these so I can remember some of the things Lawson says to me.... Sometimes it is hard to remember she is just 3 1/2! Happy Half-birthday Lawson!! Also, Happy 2 year Anniversary to Lauren and Will!!

#1 One night Wes woke up (surprise) in the middle of the night and so did Lawson...

Lawson: Mommy Wes is crying

Mommy: He is okay honey - go back to sleep

Lawson: okay I will, sometimes I cry myself to sleep too

Mommy: Oh that breaks my heart!

#2 Lawson learned to snap with both hands

Mommy: I am so proud of you. You can snap like a big girl

Lawson: Mommy, I am a big girl now can I get my ears pierced?

Mommy: You aren't that big yet.

Lawson: You said I was a big girl?

Mommy: ??????? Dang??????? What to say, what to say!

#3 Just playing in the den yesterday

Lawson: Mommy are we going out today?

Mommy: No, we are going to stay in the house today and play

Lawson: Good because if we go out you need to put some lipstick on.

Mommy: (Thank you child) Why does mommy look bad?

Lawson: Yeah

Gotta love her!!!

BUSTED!!

This morning Lawson and I had yet another moment on what she was going to wear. It started out great. She got on her new jeans and new shirt and looked adorable. Well, not 5 minutes later she told me "I don't like these jeans they are too big." The shirt she had on was pink and black and the only other pants she had that would match was in the dirty laundry. I knew she had only worn them for a couple hours the day before (I know stop cringing) so they couldn't be that dirty! Right? While she was looking for her black shoes I tried to sneak them out of the dirty laundry. Guess what? I am not as quick as I use to be- I got BUSTED and this was our conversation.

Mommy- Lawson why don't you wear these black pants today?

Lawson- Did you wash them?

Mommy {crap}- I did. {trying my best not too laugh}

Lawson- Why did you put clean pants in the dirty laundry hamper?

Mommy- {Lost it laughing}- I don't know why

Lawson- We can't wear dirty clothes to school!!

Mommy- {double crap, I just got busted}

Lawson- Mommy why don't you wash them today so I can wear them tomorrow.

Mommy- {yes dear}

Lawson is my VERY OBSERVANT ONE!! She doesn't miss a beat!!

On our days home...

So what does Lawson do when she is home...

Clean! This is her favorite thing to do in the whole wide world. Which I am 100% grateful for except these are her comments "mommy, lets clean our house it looks awful" or "Mommy, look at this mess, who made this mess, we can't have a mess in our house" Which doesn't do a lot for my ego because I really try to keep a cleaner house then before but it sometimes feels like a winless battle!!

We have already told Santa Lawson needs some cleaning gear!!

Child Labor???

Lawson is my little helper! Thank you Lawson for helping me keep my house so clean! Love you!
